오늘은 same, equal, identical의 차이점을 알아보겠습니다.

 

 

□ 차이점

 

1. same

Longman:the same person, place, thing etc is one particular person etc and not a different one

same은 두 개체가 같음을 나타내는 가장 친숙한 단어입니다. 보통 앞에 언급된 개체와 같음을 의미하여 'the same'으로 많이 표현합니다.

 

▷ Are we on the same page?

우리 같은 페이지에 있죠?(= 우리 같은 생각이시죠?, 제 말 따라오고 계시죠?)

 

2. equal

Collins:If two things are equal or if one thing is equal to another, they are the same in size, number, standard, or value

equal은 보통 수나 양, 가치에서 '동일한, 같은'이라는 의미로 사용합니다.

 

▷ it is exactly equal to zero

그것은 정확히 0과 같다

 

또한 equal은 지위나 권리 따위가 동등함을 나타냅니다.

 

▷ equal rights and equal opportunity

동등한 권리와 동등한 기회

 

3. identical

Oxford:similar in every detail

Longman:exactly the same, or very similar

identical은 (모든 세부 사항이 완전의 같거나 매우 유사하여) '동일한, 똑같은'을 의미합니다. 

 

▷ They're almost identical

둘은 (세세한 것 하나하나까지) 거의 동일하다
